Ike Bites

OK, sorry if this is a little scattered as we are working on fumes in the sleep department. For those friends and family checking on us, we are all safe and well including my parents. We will be cohabitating with them for a while until we find an apartment... if there are apartments to be had. We escaped in one piece but our casa did not. We believe it was in a tornados path and took a big hunk out of our roof and then in came the water down the walls, through the electrical outlets... just a mess. We were able to get the water out of the kitchen eventually but when we found it (no lights so we couldn't see it coming in) it was already almost to our ankles and pouring in. But these are just 'things' and we are all healthy. No more babies for me for sure... with Rita Noelie was just Eli's age... and here we are again.

Compared to some of my friends and family in Orange and BC I'm sure they have it much worse than me. I know my grandma's home in the Cove took in some lovely raw sewage and they still can't get to my aunt's house due to the water being so deep. She's lived there since a child with her grandparents and inherited the house and just fixed it up a few years back. Just all kinds of neat antiques and so cute and probably all under water. But at least they all did evacuate.

Hey Jennifer!
So sorry to hear about your damage. At least ya'll are safe :) Candie & Steven are fine. They didn't even lose electricity but now have 16 extra people at their house. Steven's familiy is all there and it sounds like their houses fared pretty well although they are not being allowed back into Galveston so they haven't seen anything with their own eyes. Leta & Dudley's house also survived no major damage. Hope you and your family can get things fixed up and back to normal. Good luck!
